I will share a podiatrist tip with you. Especially when wearing sneakers or boots, you should alternate between two pairs. You wear one pair of sneakers today and a different pair of sneakers tomorrow. Giving your first pair of sneakers/boots 24 hours to totally dry out even if they did not get wet from water. Simply the moisture from your feet.

Nice to see someone who dresses for dinner in the evening on Alaska Cruise. Nice dresses.

I just got off my first Alaska cruise 2 days ago. We had 2 sunny days (Ketchikan and Juneau) and it rained every other day. So definitely plan for rain! However, i packed too many thermals and hats (1 of each would have been sufficient). I also wish i had a pair of comfy slip on shoes that were neither my dressy flats nor my waterproof sneakers for casual ship days. I didn't bring enough short sleeve tshirts, but I bought plenty as souvenirs so that worked out nicely 😂.

We just got back from Alaska and we loved it up there! The large magnets (100 lb. with large hooks should need 12) work great for the shoe holder that you stated for the bathroom. The problem is that the door doesn't close then. If you use the magnets on the ceiling they will hold 100 lbs. the one we had had 3 holes for hooks and it worked great and it only took up a little wall space and was amazing for the small items! The clip magnets worked great for holding the papers for the days activities and port info! Binoculars are a must! With todays cell phones and the cameras they have you don't need to take your digital cameras! I got a sunrise at 3:30 am that was just stunning! Only take 1 coat that will keep you warm and light enough that it won't take up a lot of room in your suit case! Poncho is a must! And don't order the large bottles of water because even with a drink package you'll pay $5 a bottle. Now it's time to go to Australia for a 26 day cruise!

We really found your packing advice to be very helpful. We were very lucky. We do not have much of the rainwear and heavy jackets for Alaska as we live in Southern Arizona. my wife went to the local Goodwill store and found TWO Silverseas excursion 3 in 1 jackets that are used on Antarctic cruise expeditions.

Helpful video. Going on an Alaska cruise next week!
Just wanted to share a tip I learned last year attending a Broncos game in Denver. It snowed 6 inches the morning of the game and was really cold. I didn't pack any thermal underwear, but I did have flannel pj bottoms. So I wore those under my jeans and my legs didn't get cold during game.

We just completed an Alaska cruise, too. The biggest way we cut back on volume was by buying HAL's unlimited laundry package. We had about three days traveling and visiting Vancouver before embarkation day, plus another four days after the cruise in Denali and Anchorage. With the laundry package, we could do all the pre-cruise laundry right away and also have all fresh clothing at the end of the cruise to cover our land portion. My favorite clothing was all comfy -- hoodies, t-shirts, leggings, joggers, a light vest, a fleece jacket. A light-weight raincoat that I could wear over the fleece or hoodies came in handy a lot -- mostly as a windbreaker, but also for the one torrential rain period we experienced when disembarking in Whittier. I wore my sneakers most of the time, but was glad to have the waterproof hiking shoes for some small hikes and when dog-sledding on a glacier (even though the company also gives you special waterproof boots that completely cover your own shoes).

There is a difference in the Alaskan cruises when you go early in the season as opposed to later in the season. Early is still quite chilly and more snow peaks. We went in September 2022 and it was warmer and the scenery more green and lush. 70’s warm. It was sunny but we were told it is usually more rainy. Still need the hat and light quilted jacket for glacier days. The closer you get to the glacier the chillier it gets. Layers is key. The hikers are an excellent suggestion.

I did shorts on September cruise for 2 sea day inside ship during the day, temperature is great. We also had solarium with heated pools so also brought bathing suit.

I love how you showed everything you took with you! I always stressed about having enough room to pack the clothes that I would need. After watching your video, I feel a lot better. Also, I purchased the unlimited laundry package from Holland so I can conceivably take less clothes, and just have them washed!

Been on 2 Alaska cruises. We overpacked for the first one. Both were in mid to late September and really just wore cargo shorts and sweatshirts/light jacket on hand whole trip (only rained a little at one stop and we were ready). Like you said onboard is casual all week; bring one nice outfit and your covered. Ps - Two good looking guys there!

Great video! I went on an Alaska cruise over 40 years ago (yikes! 😲) and we didn’t have the weather forecasting that is available today. My cruise was at the beginning of August and I packed things like you did for your May/June trip and found that I didn’t need sweaters or coats as it was mostly in the high 70s and sunny! LOL! I did wear my evening wear and luckily I had a few days planned stay in Vancouver before the cruise so had a few summer tops to wear with my jeans! All the locals in Alaska said that we brought the sun and good weather with us! Had a fabulous time and would go again tomorrow given the chance! Great tips on packing too! Hope you enjoyed the amazing scenery! Looking forward to your next video!

My wife and I will be going on our first Alaska cruise next year. Your packing techniques and reasoning are super helpful. Thank you! I've been researching luggage for a few months, since mine is starting to wear. Level 8 was on my short list, and your review and discount code put me over the top. I picked up a Voyageur set yesterday.
