Tosin Abasi is a monster.

This Video is taken from a massive video uploaded by "iloveguitaralot" - who also has some killer videos online of him playing - check em out!

This is probably the best explanation he gives of this technique (plus a specific exercise for developing it) so i thought it warranted a video just for it. Rather than having to dig around in the original every time i wanted to re-check-out how the damn the thing is done.

The real question is wether he strikes the string down up down up like a bass, or from right to left as if he had a pick. I'm more effective with the second one, cause using the former makes noise on the other strings and besides all, the second stroke is not as loud as the first one... What do you think ?

dude i understand the damn thing from this video :P i was just hoping for a super in-depth type thing saying like what kinda angle its best to come at the string from, where abouts on your thumb you're spozed to hit the string with etc - i mean i can guess ... and usually with learning stuff like that its "do what feels right" but nothing feels right koz im so new to anything like it lol

i've learnt to do this technique, bro, and the area of your thumb that makes contact with the string is kinda this area: tinyurl (dot) com (slash) 8gnhvu8 - hope this helps!

Such an awkward motion if you aren't used to it, I've played guitar for 10 years and trying to do this makes me feel like I've never picked one up in my life o.O
