So I tried using Visible wireless (on a factory unlocked phone) last week after watching your videos. Unfortunately where I live in New Jersey their coverage is horrible like Verizon but very deprioritized (QCI 9) unlike Verizon. I use AT&T Prepaid and get great service for $30 a month and 10GB which is all I need. However, I am turning 63 in September and will be getting my first retirement check in October.

Hey Tim I enjoy your videos and content. Today my comment is unrelated to today's video. It is related to one of your previous videos regarding one of your side hustles. Ironing your shirts. Making yourself look sharp. That looked like a sloppy wiggly set up. If I may make a suggestion. It is a product from Mainstays, sold at Walmart. It is called an ironing mat. Turns any flat surface into an ironing board. Just an idea. Been living in a motorhome since 2006.

I know this video is six months old so perhaps things have changed a bit, but visible limits download speeds to 5 Mb per second when you are using the hotspot feature. That doesn’t remotely compare speed wise to home Wi-Fi service. You can stream and do things on a laptop at that speed or a tablet, but honestly I can’t imagine how you could see anything above 480 P or a max of 720 P on a TV if you are hotspotting at that speed. They do say it’s unlimited hotspot though which is a plus over other services

I have been using visible on a phone for about three weeks. Overall it seems fine. Although I did have a day where I completely lost service in the house, and had to chat with one of their people who had to reset my entire service to get it working again. So hopefully that won’t be a trend. Again, only three weeks of trial with it so far.

So I’m not yet at the point where I can recommend it or not timewise based on my use, but I would not recommend that somebody just toss out their home Wi-Fi in favor of using the hotspot just from their phone. Speed wise it just isn’t there to replace Wi-Fi.

Tim, my wife asked me to ask you about Visible. can she still text and use her phone concurrently when she’s using it as a hotspot to stream her favorite TV show? Or will these other services be disabled in 10:09 hotspot mode?

You can get most phones unlocked from the carrier by asking the carrier or in some cases there is an unlock app on the phone. As long as phone is paid off and usually had in service more than 6 months it should not be an issue.

I have Cricket Wireless currently, paying $60 umlimited, with a 15gb hotspot. Is Visible actually unlimited hotspot data? or does it shut off after a certain cap?

Unfortunately, if you you watch sports, you still need cable. Most unlocked phones are not compatible with Verizon as they are not gsm.
