The Role of Digitalisation in South-South Cooperation | Research by Citlali Ayala Martinez
In this video, Citlali Ayala Martinez, a research professor at Mora Institute in Mexico City, shares insights from her ongoing research project under the PRODIGEES program. Her work focuses on exploring how digitalisation can significantly enhance South-South and triangular cooperation, contributing to development solutions across the Global South.
Key Topics Discussed:
The impact of digitalisation on global development initiatives. The role of frameworks like the Digital Global Compact and national digital agendas in promoting digital inclusion. How digital technologies can be established as a global public good.
PRODIGEES is a transnational knowledge cooperation network, aimed at creating a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the impact of digitalisation across the social, economic and environmental dimension of sustainable development and its governance. Funded by the EU’s Horizon2020 programme, it analyses conditions under which positive effects of digitalisation can be realised, while at the same time [mitigating] potential negative effects. The project (2020-2023) engages in staff exchange, transnational training and multi-stakeholder dialogue, and establishes a long-term platform of research institutions in the EU and from the MGG network in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico and South Africa.
