Dele Sosimi is an Afrobeat pioneer and Hackney legend - born in London but raised in Nigeria, he grew up playing in Fela Kuti's Egypt 80 after joining at the tender age of 16. Now an educator, ambassador, and above all a virtuoso keys player, his influence and sound can be heard across eras and genres. Whether at the helm of his heavyweight 15-piece Afrobeat orchestra, or experimenting with projects like his dancefloor excursions with South London DJ & producer Medlar, it's hard not to admire his power, passion and commitment to the form. We were very lucky to host him and his stripped-back quartet for an incredibly intimate demonstration of raw and evocative Afrobeat.
