Smounds is the cross between smells and sounds. Have you experienced them?

I seem to have a few different variants.
People's names in text (such as through IMs) seem to get a color associated with them according to what letters make it up. same with the alphabet and numbers at times.

animated gifs such as forum avatars produce sound when i watch them.. there's some gifs out there that drop pretty good beats.

the reason acid causes synethesia like feeling is because it excites many different receptors at once causing sensations to mix. synethesia on the other hand is thought to be caused by the axons being to close together allowing for neuro transmitters to excite the wrong receptors. it has nothing to do with focus or gullibility

There has also been the understanding among chefs for a very long time that sound is an important part of taste. Most people can hear whether poured water is hot or cold. No really. You can hear the difference between hot and cold water while it's being poured. Get a friend and try it.

I feel like the definition of synesthesia was a little too literal here, at least for me. When I listen to music, I do see lines going up and down with the music, but in my mind's eye, not right in front of my vision. I do associate the letter M with red, but the letter M doesn't appear red.

Our understanding of the brain indicates that different lobes (areas of the cortex) process different kinds of information. It may be that the simultaneous firing of receptors in different parts of the brain forms an association (impression?). I was concerned about a possible confusion of dream and reality and the suspension of one's ability to make critical judgements.

Sometimes i feel words are a certain color.

Like Laryngitis being orange.

It leads to many headaches.

People who drop acid claim to have similar experiences. It may be that they have trouble focusing and everything gets confused. Perhaps dreams and reality also get confused and that can be very dangerous. Some people are more open to suggestion and more gullible than others. It may help to build up some resistance. A little more Cartesian doubt might help but it might also end up feeding the delusions.
