My name is Vanna Tsiorva. I am Greek living in Greece. Holy Fathers, such as Great Athanasios, say that we are better off staying at home and praying there than going to a heretic church, a church where is commemorated a heretic bishop or those with whom a heretic bishop communicates. Church is Christ's Body : If the hand-priest is poisoned with heresies, then all the other parts of the body will eventually receive the poison. This is what the Holly Fathers call μολυσμός πίστης. Once you know that the priest of your church communes with a heretic bishop, stay at home and pray. This is the practical meaning of fighting for the orthodox faith, the so called Ιεροκανονική Αποτείχιση. Otherwise, Christ' body and blood becomes condemnation because we receive it unworthingly from the faith's point of view.

Im hoping to get started with a church soon. To connect with God. I do feel ive built a good connection with God in my own but it could be better

My understanding is church for the early Christians was more like a Bible study nowadays than sitting and listening to someome preach for 90 mins. The point of church is fellowship. You can do that in many ways by just gathering with fellow believers.

My problem is that after doing all the study, research and most importantly praying for direction I want to join the Orthodox Church. Only problem is there aren't any near me.

As someone who is far from any Orthodox churches, would attending any church (I.e. protestant or roman Catholic) be acceptable in my pursuit of communion with Christ? Or is finding guidance through the word sufficient until my circumstances allow me closer to the one true church?

St Mary of Egypt never went to Church. Im not saying I don't need to go to Church, I believe you're right, I'm just saying, she's an interesting case of someone who never went to Church. She was actually kept from ever entering.

For this video particularly he’s leaving out with God. Also talked about multiple times in the book, is times of isolation.
Where you would isolate yourself for set amount of time to get right with God that for some people takes upwards to years don’t think just because you’re not going consistently like he says that it’s a bad thing sometimes it’s a good thing you’re getting spiritually stronger you’re going through a period in time where God’s testing your heart seeing if you listen

They don’t know God’s will. Do not forsake the gathering together of one another. As some are accustomed to…
