Loaction of India on map lies between lattitudes 8°4'N to 37°6'N and longitudes 68°7'E to 97°25'E. India lies entirely in the Nothern hemishphere with tropic of cancer dividing india north and south. The difference between both the latitudinal and the longitudinal extent is almost same 30°.
India is the 7th largest country in the world having 2.4% of the world area which is 3.8 million sq. km.82° 30° meridan is the standard meridian of India that passes through Naini (Mirzapur) near Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
India has a central location east-weat in the Indian Ocean. It helps India to have trans oceanic connections with the West Asia, Africa, Europe, South-East Asia and the East Asia.
Inida's land boundrry touches its seven neighbour countries-Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Mayanmar. India has its two island neighbours-Maldives and Sri Lanka.
India comprises 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Its extreme corners are- Indira Point (Sourthernmost), Indra Kol (Northern Most), Kibithu (Eatern Most) and Guhar Moti (Western Most)
