In 2020, the EU Commission unveiled its "From Farm to Fork" (F2F) strategy - an ambitious transformation plan of the European agrifood sector, supposed to make agriculture more environment-friendly and sustainable, and food healthier.

Recent farmers’ protests have however led to significant backward moves in the European agricultural policy, a grossly inadequate answer to farmers’ difficulties comforting recent trends that seriously endanger the natural environment and human health. Instead, what is urgently needed is an embracing strategy for the whole agrifood sector.

In his CIFExpress interview, Jacques Le Cacheux, Professor of Economics at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour / TREE (Energy and Environmental Transitions), delivers a succinct analysis of the Commission's "From Farm to Fork" strategy and sets it into its context.
