For anyone asking why did they take several break in the beginning of the fight: Their fight initially used silat competition rules where only four types of attacks were allowed in a row. After that they had to put their feet back on. As you can see at 0:17 and 0:27 the assassin launched four types of attacks in a row, so after that he had to stop and wait Rama to get his feet back on.

However, at 0:55 when the assassin continued to attack Rama who had fallen, at that time they agreed to give up the silat rules as it is forbidden in silat rules to attack a fallen opponent.

I saw this movie in theatre here in Mumbai, after this fight scene audience gave standing ovation. It was a treat like a dance of death so well choreographed. HATS OFF!!

Fuck. This fucking scene gets me every time. The forearm, fist, elbow, knees, feet & shin strikes. The clinches. The tosses & the takedowns. They wanted to display the variety of disciplines associated with their martial art & they succeeded to a degree I doubt they thought was imaginable. Even through the use of the indonesian designed Karambit blade, showing its capabilities as a practical and highly effective weapon in close quarters combat. Just absolutely perfect

I went to watch this at the cinema in the England when it was first relased with my brother, we were both completely blown away.
A true masterclass in martial arts action.
This duel in particular will take some serious beating, a ballet of glorious violence played out over 7 minutes. Such a gem.
