A few weeks ago, my life changed in a way I never expected. I’m a 19-year-old girl, just starting my freshman year of college. I was excited to join clubs and meet new people.

One day, I was just wandering around, when a serious guy in a suit, Let’s call him “Chad” approached me. He handed me a fancy envelope with a wax seal and said, “We’ve been watching you, and you’re a perfect fit.”

I thought it might be a joke, but I was curious. Back in my dorm, I opened it and found a strange message: “If you want to be part of something bigger, come at midnight to a random building

I thought, “What’s the worst that could happen?” So, I decided to go.

At midnight, I arrived at dark. I expected a few people hanging out, but instead, there were about 15 people in suits standing in a circle, and the room smelled like incense. Before I could ask anything, Chad and his friends pulled me into the circle and handed me what looked like an ancient scroll.

They told me about their “legacy” and how they’ve been around for centuries. Then they asked if I would “pledge my loyalty.” I felt trapped, so I said yes. They made me do strange rituals, including a chant in a language I didn’t understand, and a long group hug. I wondered, “Am I joining a cult?”

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I’m now a “member” of this secret culb. They meet every Thursday night in different places, and I’ve gone to a few meetings. Here’s the problem: I still have no idea what they actually do.

They talk about “securing the future” and “maintaining balance,” but all we’ve done is strange rituals and vague tasks like “watch over the chosen ones.

Now, I want to leave. I thought it would be a cool club, but it’s turned into the weirdest experience ever. I’m scared to tell them I want out. What if they do something to me?

But if I keep going, I might end up as their new leader. Chad keeps saying I have “potential” and could “bring balance,” whatever that means. I just want to escape this strange situation.
