The thin sheet metal you get from it, when I was a kid I would use it in the river to catch fish for bait. Can snip it to make lures or if big enough, you can throw them at the fish, they are so thin they slice through the water and cut the fish.

I grew up with nothing so scrap metal was my way of getting pocket money. I have used copper wire as line, nuts as sinkers and tin as lures just to catch fish, and if I couldn’t catch anything, I could scrap the metal and get some hot chips from the fish and chip shop. Win/win as a kid.

A fun thing to do with aluminum core MOTs is to zip the weld off and mount the secondary coils complementary back to back you get about 10kv output from less than 2 bucks of scrap. Can do well offering them up to science geeks. ❤❤

That is by far the best method! I actually dont even use the puch/chisel on mime. I just beat the crap out of them welded joints with my 3.5lb mini sledge. After first few blows they just fall apart.

I use the hatchet/ sledge hammer technique, same result just quicker
