Credit to you. What a lovely car. I daily drive an E320 Coupe and can swear by the W124 reliability.

Awesome W124!

I've got a 250D and live in the baltics (northern end), the car has around 500k km on the dash, original engine and gearbox (automatic) and I bought the car for 1500 and have invested (by "restoring" the car) only around 600EUR into the car which included a full brake job (rotors, pads, parking brakes and cables, fluids), regular maintenance, bushings and so forth (all done by me).

It's a truly reliable car and I love it, working on it yourself is extremely easy and that's the reason I bought it, had a newer Audi before (was really problem free as well) but I didn't dare work on it myself, this car is a perfect car (diesels) to get into working with cars yourself in my opinion, unless some harder issues arise - the only thing not working for me currently is the sunroof, the motor is still there but I suspect the cable is not connected - that's the only thing I'll bring to a professional as it'd take them way less time to diagnose and fix.

watching a lot of car vlogs randomly brought me here. very entertaining. I’m pretty sure that this channel is a meal worth waiting for. consistency is the key!

I ve been driving my 300ce for 18 yrs now, still with the original engine and gearbox.Have little issues with the air con, just change the parts that need changing and it will run cool despite the hot n humid climate here in malaysia

I own the same model in Norway and doing the same type of restoration. It's more affordable where you are.

I have been changing every bushing under i belive, some connectors, joints, springs, wheels, steering wheel, sterio, sunroof assembly, headlight, facelift bonnet (it's a 88 model with 92 headlight and bonnet). The more you spend on fixing it the more you want to do more on it. It's really a nice car to drive and cruise in. Next up is coilovers (want do be able to adjust it) 17"BBS and a paint job.

Like your video, cool car and make me want to work on mine more 🙂

Yeah the Air-conditioning is somewhat a common problem with old Mercs. We used to own a Green Mercedes W123 300D it was definite pain in the a** to get the aircon fixed almost every 2 months although we did daily it was still good fun when we had it. Sadly we had to retire it back in '06. :/

My 1992 300e A/C blows super cold. Only issue I have is finding the old refrigerate it needs. But I have manage to acquire a few cans.

Not a bad way to spend 700k. You can't even get anything interesting anymore for that amount if you go with New Cars.

Thanks for the carspiration! Thinking of getting a W124, and this gave me a bit more confidence. This car seems like a tank.

I do have to ask though, how does this car do on humps in the Philippines? Just seems like lowering the springs might make it scrape over humps here.

It's probably easier to manage and maintain then new cars especially electric cars

Nice build. Where did you get your kit from? I priced out what it would cost in the US to do what you did and landed on a similar cost.

I have a 94 E320 Coupe here in Australia the aircon unit was upgraded for later M104.992 cars so in 7 years no issues except the eco wiring engine loom and the throttlebody which I replaced apart from that it's been an amazing car and is far better built than my 2012 E350 which I'd rather replace than the W124 Coupe, certainly one of Bruno Saccos most superb designs.
