I only now have randomly come across this video. This test was done 100% correctly and just like on my videos, there are some very ignorant people in the comment section not understanding the same surface of a CD to a Flat (grooveless) Vinyl. It's the same surface people, and a CD is just as good if you don't have a Flat Vinyl callibration disc. It's so annoying how so many people jump to wrong conclusions when the very thing they are questioning was performed exactly as it was supposed to be done. I for one appreciate this video a lot!

I was using a c.d. to set mine,
then I found a laser disc at my local record store and checked it with that.
I wasn't staying in place in the middle of the L.D.
So you really need to check it with a L.D. or blank record to be sure it's working from beginning to the end of a record.

A CD is not the proper way for friction anti-skate, and too many people are really having problems because of the videos. A friction anti-skate is a spring and lever, and it engages as long as the record is playing, but as it moves to stop it disengages completely. So you've just confused many of the owners of turntables. The anti-skate force should only impede the movement, not stop it, no matter what you use. That's why a full 33.3 record with no grooves is the only way to accurately check whether your anti-skate works properly.

I don't understand. Won't you fuck up the stylus if you put it on s spinning CD? At least it sounded like that was the case when Austin Powers did it.

As others have mentioned this doesnt prove anything. Get a proper test LP to hear the distortion between the channels and adjust accordingly.

This is a roughly setting of the bias, Must be fine setting by ear.

It's best to test where the tone arm would normally be playing an LP the middle of the disk

Only use ortofon concorde. Way cooler looking

This it totally wrong way to do it. No relevance to record playing. Use a test record with tracking/anti-skating test track. Like the Ortofon record.
