"you cannot see my face for no one may see me and live." this verse explains that we as humans in general cannot imagine or describe God's physical features. We cannot decipher what his physical features are.

When we say look, we expect a physical appearance, but God created the space time contiuum, so God has to be outside of that, he is spaceless timeless and immaterial, that means he can't be seen, he can be known by his effects.
