My parents never had locks on their doors and we don't either with our kid. If the door is shut no barging in. You knock and if someone says you can come in then you can go in. If no one answers that typically means no one is in there so we would go in if we needed something. Rooms shouldn't be "off limits" to anyone. I also think parents should practice what they preach. If your door doesn't lock, neither does mine. And if I want the respect of knocking then you do the same. You have to teach kids how to act as future adults by example. But I know every household is different and what works for one family might not work for another. That's just what works for us. ❤️

Yeah... this is a toxic parenting trait in every culture, I think. Privacy is okay. If parents can lock their doors or ban you from their room, it's okay for a child to sometimes lock their door when they want privacy. This sort of practice allows the child to learn the value of privacy and to also feel trusted by their parents

I used to get in huge fights over this with my parents when I was a teenager. I straight up told them, if you don't want me to lock the door don't give me a door that has a lock. I still to this day have no idea why it was such an issue. Both of my younger siblings were allowed to lock their bedroom doors 🙄

Parents think they are entitled to taunt their kids about anything & everything. My parents behaved exactly like this in the video. I left my house & never looked back to even reconcile with my parents. They have asked for forgiveness countless times, but I cannot forget their rude & harsh words which has pierced my heart terribly. They have constantly humiliated & insulted me all the time in front of everyone. I don’t even want to look at their faces. God will surely punish them!!
