I am so blessed. I had 16 days and 4 boosts. Great oncologist great technicians. I used a very strong (4tea bags) green tea in a spray bottle 4x a day and came through with only redness then tan. Still using it ( and cream before bed). And I exercised 45 minutes every night to deal with the fatigue. The whole procedure has SO much to do with a positive state of mind and LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

I have cancer in my right breast, and I've had four heart attacks. My cardiologist said that radiation therapy is so targeted and precise now that it shouldn't have any effect on my heart since it's my right breast that is affected. But he said chemo is bad for my heart. I'm going to do radiation therapy. I'm not sure about chemo. I've pretty much decided not to do hormone therapy because I'm 67 years old and have a bad heart.

Breast surgery twice on two places and two or three lymph nodes. My nipple turned as black as someone from India or Nigeria, from radiation in 2019. 🤪 One was peach one was black. I had a huge ball raise up on my breast and a weeping bulge in my armpit, but I completed 6 weeks of daily radiation! ☢️ The unforgivable part was ONLY given low dose pain meds for 5 days TOTAL, even when they knew a pain block wasn’t used after a lymph node dissection. I’ve refused reconstruction because who can endure the pain unmedicated? It was cruel. Never again. I’ll ask for a palliative care doctor and die with dignity and self respect. Doctors are so scared of the government; forgetting their oath. If I were an addict I’d be one at this age from: alcohol, drugs, SOMETHING? but nope. Cancer and surgery should be exempt for pain management. Now I’m petrified of going to doctors because they’re all suspicious if you say you have pain. I’ve suffered from bone pain for some reason ever since. I can only work 4 hrs a day to support myself. I feel unsupported as someone experiencing long term cancer injury. They gave me a script for antidepressants. Women aren’t taken as seriously as men. We’re given hush meds. I was also given Xanax. 🤕😴🛌

So now I have a second primary tumor very very close to the last one. The first was a rare cancer at 1 oclock with a lumpectomy and radiation. Now the new cancer the most common type is at 2 oclock in the same breast. It is 6 years since first. I don't think I was aware of the risk of developing a second primary tumor. Of course, recurrence was always a risk but this is a blindside. Maybe this cancer was helped along by my previous radiation. What a mess. How are there any decent choices. Now I am facing a mastectomy but luckily no spread. I kept every appointment. I was only 9 months out from a good mamogram and oncology visit. My cat stepped on me walking on my headboard and it was terribly painful. I felt the area and there it was. I knew immeduately it was a tumor but tried to think ut was scar tissue. I had it checked in a few weeks and it is invasive ductal carcinoma. You have to be vigilant.

Woa....a "sunburn" would have been fine, and that's what I had at first, but my skin peeled off like someone poured boiling water on my breast and I was left with a wet, putrid, incredibly painful wound from above my collar bone, my entire breast, and the axillary area. I needed a special dressing called Mepilex to keep it covered and strong painkillers to deal with the pain. I am happy for all of you who got through radiation a bit more unscathed. To clarify: I had 25 sessions of pRoton therapy, which can be kinder to the nearby organs but more brutal to the skin.
