In 2010, one of the greatest debut albums of all-time was released: The ArchAndroid.
By my favorite artist of all-time: Janelle Monae.
It is a magnificent body of work that consists of the second and third parts of her Metropolis storyline. It tells the tale of Cindy Mayweather, an android sent back in time to free the citizens of Metropolis from The Great Divide, a secret society that uses time travel to suppress freedom and love. The album feeds me on multiple creative levels. When I first listened to it, I put headphones on closed my eyes and let it take me on a journey. What a journey it was! And still is. It's R&B, neo-soul, funk, rock, hip-hop, electro-pop, jazz, futuristic magnificence.
