Don't know how to dry your laundry in winter? - Here I show you how the laundry dries much faster in winter!

In the summer, you can put your laundry wonderfully in the sun, so that it dries nice and fast. Whether it's on the balcony or in your own garden, or just by the window. But where can you put your laundry to dry in the winter? In this video I show you how the laundry dries much faster in the winter.

Because even if many believe that they then just have to turn up the heating, this is actually the wrong way. Because of the wet laundry, the humidity rises and this ensures that the laundry dries even slower.

The right way is to open a window so that the air can circulate. This should make your laundry dry quickly even in winter. And if you want to speed up the drying process even more, you should also set up a fan that blows through each row of laundry. This will make the laundry dry even faster!

So if you want your laundry to dry quickly even in winter, be sure to try these tricks!

We've been drying our clothes on foldable racks for decades. In the winter, our house is so dry from the furnace we deliberately do laundry to hang up just to get some moisture into the air. We can hang even heavy work clothes on the dryer and have it be totally dry within 2 to 3 hours. We use our dryer to fluff and dewrinkle the clothes afterwards just for a few minutes after that. We've had the same dryer since 1987 because it is so rarely actually used. I think they made things better back then too.

I found your video when I was researching what to do after my dryer stopped working and the service person was waiting for a part for the machine. I just followed your instructions with the fan blowing the clothes on the drying rack in front of a partially opened window. After doing so and listening again to your words of advice, I couldn't help but remember when I was a little girl in early 1960's in a northern climate when my parents had a wringer washer and dryers were unheard of. Our clothes were hung outside for a few months when weather was suitable. The rest of the time the wet clothes were hung up in winter in the basement (no window), on makeshift clothes lines. Back then, there was no discussion of fans, humidity build up, mould, etc. Makes you wonder how we are still alive today!!!!

This is exactly what I've been doing, using a summer fan with no heat.
It's a much cheaper method than using a tumble dryer. You can additionally put another fan by an open window to suck out the moisture-laden air.

This is a good point. Cold wind, after I've had a shower, dries my hair quite quickly. Why have we been drying with heat all this time?

Your laundry takes a long time to dry because you double fold it. Use pins instead and only fold a little over the top. More surface area = less drying time!

I use fan heater by putting it under the clothes and cover the rack with old bed sheet 😉

This is a problem mostly in Europe, where they make and export HVAC systems, but they don't install it for themselves. Same goes for 24 seater bus and coaches, etc. All the tech, gotta keep that window open. 1 meter thick wall to insulate, but let the cold air in by keeping a window open.

now that's a good tip - like tumble drying without the expense (or lack of space) of dedicated machine!
...So running costs similar to TD machine?

I just changed my clothes up in the closet but don't close the door let it dry by itself you don't need it for a couple days or if I'm going to need it right away I will just let it hang in the closet spaced out and air dry

That’s an interesting idea. Thank you for sharing this. Our electronic dryer takes a very long time to dry our clothes. Therefore making our electric bill very high!! We don’t own a rack like that. Where can I find one of those? Thank you for your help.
