today my daughter and i rescued a smooth earth snake from the pool drain! it was really little (like the dekay's!) and had slightly iridescent brownish-gray scales + a white belly. It was very friendly--it let both of us hold it without trying to get away. it didn't seem hurt, but it was trying to shed, so we put it by some small rocks and it immediately started to rub against everything to get the shed off. then it slithered away. :)
this is the first time we have found a snake since watching your videos and it was my first time feeling confident handling a snake found in the wild. it was such a cool moment to experience with my daughter and I thank you for giving me the knowledge to handle the situation!
