Head to Head! Audi SQ8 vs Audi RSQ8

Both the Audi SQ8 and the RSQ8 (or the baby Lamborghini urus) have Audi’s legendary 4.0L V8 twin turbo engine. But they are very different flavors. I put these two cars head to head and compare the differences and go over the special RS features only on the RSQ8.

So what one do you prefer?

SQ8 definitely sounds better and is clearly the better value. Having said that, I still went with the RSQ8, no regrets.

Some of you are asking why the exhaust on SQ8 sounds better. This happens because the SQ8 has lower turbo pressure and therefore less horsepower. The higher the psi/pressure of the turbo, the more of a muted sound.
You can even tweak it from the software to have less psi and less hp, making it even better sounding. Lower it from 507 hp to 450, do a muffler delete and voila! Best sound audi V8 of this generation

If you're actually shelling out that kind of scratch for a car, the price between the two is negligible. RS all the way. Great presentation of the two...well done and professional.

hard to argue the value on the SQ8 being 24k less than the RS but if you got the $ that RS is just beautiful. Audi did an amazing job

Great video! Obviously, I would take the RSQ8 but with the sticker price of $121k, I would much rather take the SQ8 and test my luck with tuning.

Your videos are on an entirely different level! So good! Thanks for the comparison I had been waiting for. Side by side there are quite obvious differences. We are in the market and thinking of going with the Q8 (once crazy supply chain issues subside…..hopefully by 2024?) We test drove the base model though and it seemed a bit underpowered. The SQ8 feels like the sweet spot but that RS is just astounding. Wondering if you could drive the RS as a daily driver or if it’s like driving an exotic sports car….stiff and totally impractical for the day to day around town. Anyway, your enthusiastic knowledge of the Audi brand, well thought out camera angles to see the details, and helpful post production text inserts set you vastly apart from other car reviewers. Thank you for this in depth head to head. I’m went for the more affordable SQ8 simply for financial reasons. Of course I would prefer a whole 100hp more with the RSQ8. I do however prefer the SQ8 exhaust note better. Overall… they’re both the meanest SUV on the market right now. Other than the Urus, to which these vehicles are so damn similar why would I ever pay 250-300k for a Urus. Thank you Audi for making these beasts! Mine is being delivered in a few days and I can’t wait!!!

Wow, the RSQ8 comes with differently stiched seats, option to switch between some setting profiles, and most importantly, AN RS BADGE ON THE VEHICLE ICON! WOW that's so worth it over the SQ8! It even has 91 more horsepowers that's a nice extra to have I guess.
