Can we take a moment to appreciate the new background and lighting setup. It looks fantastic.

It should be noted that artificers are the only half caster that calculates spell slot multiclassing as half their level rounded up rather than down. Meaning 1 level artificer dip doesn't cost any spell slot scaling.

Edit-also my dudes I think hexblade abjuration wizard is worth at least a c. Armor of shadows invocation gives free quick and consistent out of combat ward charging, you get medium armor and shields on your wizard, and you get armor of Agathys to upcast to the moon of anything gets close. It's pretty disgusting if you research how armor of Agathys works with the arcane ward.

Oh man and how could I forget to mention the MEAT GRINDER that is magic missile and hexblade curse!

Thanks again for the video dudes love you guys. - signed a treantmonk acolyte

If I had a nickel for every time Monty called the Battlesmith the Battlemaster, I'd have 3 nickels

A wizard using cunning action to disengage is what I like to call "The Rincewind Maneuver"

1 level artificer dip doesn’t slow your spell slot progression, slows your spell progression only by 1 level (you also sacrifice 1 wizard spell prepared for int modifier (so, 3-4 at start, eventually 5) artificer spells prepared), gives you proficiency in medium armor & shields, constitution saving throws, cure wounds & faerie fire, and you end up with the same amount of feats (only delayed by 1 level)

If this isn’t an S tier dip, I don’t know what is

Artificer 1/wizard X is S tier. Amazing proficiency with Con save, medium armour + shield and thieves' tools, 0 multiclass requirements, even guidance for out of combat. If you get war caster or DM handwaves components, fairy fire, thorn whip, spare the dying and sanctuary are also good spells the wizard doesn't get. Cure wounds can come in clutch too.

Artificer is a standout build with 1 level at first. Take Cure Wounds, Guidance, Magic Stone (give these to undead or Tiny servants for a consistent bonus action) as spells known/ prepped all add to the options the wizard can take drastically. Add in Medium Armor, Shields and con save proficiency and this is a stellar MC for almost any wizard.

“Can you Bladesong while wild shaped?” I can literally hear Colby writing the script for a Moon-Singer

I would argue, on behalf of the artificer.
Even if you don’t take it to 3rd level it still has a lot more to offer than was noted, you get armour first off and shields, but for spells you can also take your pick with a 1 level dip between fairy fire, sanctuary, and cure wounds, also guidance as an option for a cantrip. The one level dip alone makes those early wizard levels so much more survivable

Edit: everything good you had to say about your A+ cleric dip applied to the early level artificer but cast through your intelligence modifier.

You actually can Eldritch Blast with INT in BG3; the Spell Sniper feat gives you a cantrip from a short list, Eldritch Blast among them. Granted, Agonizing blast still adds your CHA, not INT but I think repelling blast still works.

One thing of note with the lvl 1 Artificer dip is that it's the only class for which your Spellcasting level is rounded up, so if you have one Artificer level, you'll actually have the same amount of spell slots as a wizard of the same level.

This makes the dip fantastic for Necromancers and Conjurers, as you can just use your highest slot to upcast Animate Dead and your summoning spells.

But since these spells can be picked up for each wizard, that makes this benefit apply to all subclasses

Our party wizard took a single level of artificer to start for the armor proficiency and CON save proficiency. That also doesn't hurt spell slot progression since artificer rounds up instead of down. Those 3 things are why I like Aetificer 1/Wizard X as a multiclass.

I literally cannot make a wizard without taking my first level in artificer anymore that con proficiency is stupidly underrated and the fact that I could potentially have healing spells as a wizard is always useful

Stars Druid is actually fantastic if you’re playing an Abjuration wizard; with two levels, you can use a bonus action to ensure you succeed on every counterspell or dispel magic check you make for 10 minutes. It also helps out with Telekinesis if that’s something you want to focus on.
Spores Druid works pretty well as a dip for Abjuration wizard as well once you get your hands on Tasha’s Otherworldly Guise. Alternatively, you could go bladesinger and use spells like Mirror Image and Blur to keep your temp HP up.
Shepherds Druid can shore up your summons a little bit? Maybe would pair well with Animate Objects or a Necromancer. Also worth noting that the Unicorn Spirit would enable you to heal summoned undead or constructs a little bit when you cast spells like Healing Word so long as they’re within the aura when you cast it.
There’s also some cool infiltration stuff you can do with Wild Shape and the Illusionist’s “Hypnotic Gaze” feature or the Diviner’s “Third Eye” feature if you turn into something unassuming like a rat or a spider and then sneak around, maybe adding Pass Without Trace? Works well for information gathering or getting the jump on a group of enemies.

Pro tip for players who want to name their character Gandagorn: be prepared for every other player to call you Candy Corn for the entire game

Artificer adds their level rounded up so 1 level of artificer is considered a full level of spell caster, 3 levels of artificer is considered 2 and so on

I'm currently rocking a Rogue/Wizard in one of my campaigns and I LOVE it. I remember you guys talking about how oftentimes rogues "play fair" by only relying on their high skill checks. This multiclass lets them rely on those skills, but also "cheat" when they need to, and the results are phenomenal

If you make a Bladesinger, and you start with one level of Draconic Sorcerer, you get a Base AC of 13, prof. in Con saves, and a single bonus HP. For a single level dip, that's not bad - and it doesn't slow you slot progression, and only one level of spell progression. It's not bad for a War Mage either.

40:11 Hexblade 1 / Abjuration X. Medium Armor, shield prof for great AC. Armor of Afathys is an abjuration spell. You are a front line wizard tank porcupine.

Your taunt is the CC spell you are concentrating on. When you get hit, they take damage from Agathys. Your ward loses HP before temp.HP. When Agathys drops, cast it again and it activates your ward.

This is S tier. All other combos are D.
