Welcome to the first ever episode of Sound Culture video reviews! Brendon Greene and I will be giving you a weekly dose of good music to listen to for the first time, or even better, a refresher on the albums you already love.

We decided to kick it off rather democratically and are featuring 2017's Painted Ruins, by the ever-evolving Grizzly Bear. A band that changes their sound from alternative, to blues, to instrumental and whatever else suits their brand at the moment. This is an album full of musical layers, and we recommend you listen to it a few times before you decide how you truly feel about it.

I hope this video stimulates and inspires! Please like the video and subscribe if you enjoyed it and want to support artists!

I bet you didn't know that Grizzly Bear spent two years writing and recording this album. Totally worth it IMO.

On first hearings, I imagined this album sounded like Midlake would sound now if Tim Smith had stayed part of the group.
