RAV283 Yamaha Remote Control Button Repair

Do-It-Yourself button repair for Yamaha RAV283 WN05810 US remote control using ButtonWorx button repair kit.

Remote repaired! It takes a surprising amount of force to get the bottom portion undone. I used the side of a stiff putty knife. The side latches release much easier when sliding the screwdriver blade along the channel (as shown in the video). Cleaning the circuit board with alcohol returned the volume buttons to operating with a light touch. Thank you for this useful video!

Thanks a ton for the video! I bought a used Yamaha amp without checking if the remote worked and was devastated to find that it didn't. I was afraid to break the remote opening it up but starting at the bottom was the trick. I used a guitar pick to work my way up after, with no damage to the rest of the plastic housing. There was oily buildup everywhere on the circuit board. Cleaning this up with rubbing alcohol was enough to bring it back from 0% to 99% working order!

Also, to "repair" the plastic dents, I used a lighter and it worked! Just keep the flame a couple inches below the remote and don't overdo it. It doesn't come back 100% but is still way better than it was.

Thanks for the awesome tutorial! I had a button (down) on my RAV483 that would occasionally work. I didn't have the repair kit, but watching your video to take the remote apart was great. Then cleaned contacts with rubbing alcohol, and it seemed to do the trick (there was something sticky in there...probably courtesy of my 4yo son!). Many thanks!!!

That was a great tutorial. I finally managed to open my RX-V430 remote control. Thought it's impossible. Still can't figure why they make it so hard to open the remote, it's like they are doing it on purpose. Thanks a lot!

My RX-V373 remote's volume buttons had failed, I would have never been confident enough to deliver the amount of force required to get the blasted thing open if your video had not confirmed there is just the one screw! I made a right mess of the edges lol, but that will be corrected with some sandpaper and it now works perfectly once more!

Just cleaning the oils from the buttons and circuit board was enough to bring it back to perfect working order.

Thanks mate. Somehow rum and coke got into my RAV242 and we had to crush the volume buttons to make them work for years. With your guide I felt confident enough to have a go ripping it apart and cleaning it with metho. AND whaddoyaknow, now I can mute and change volume without getting finger cramps. If I ever find out who spilled their drink....
