Mooy was simply smart business; skilled player, family in the country, great experience and FREE. Perfect squad option to back up the first team and give cover to McGregor and O'Reilly, which we desperately need. He'll take time to get fit, touch etc. etc. Give it time but its very shrewd management and what you need competing in four comps concurrently.

Mooy is such a quality player and deserves more respect than getting grilled for 15 minutes of game time. I understand demanding the best and being skeptical of new signings but fuck me, give them a chance to prove something before jumping on their gizzards.

Ange is experimenting without giving too much away. Second halves in particular have been about trying players out. No need to worry. Thirty plus years of success - he knows what he’s doing. Some people forget how many players he brought in and how quickly he improved the team last season. And Mooy will be great for the team once he is fit. It’s not a sentimental act by Ange.

Mooy and McGregor could be a match made in heaven. Box to box midfielders. One forward one back, and transitioning back into defence, both ending up not unlike double pivots. Not a prediction, but wouldn’t be surprised if that is how things go. Even if the actual ‘set up’ is not technically the double pivot. 🤔

Benkovic was the last left sided centre half. Really rated him. Added balance.

A year on from us needing a ‘complete rebuild’ some of the options we have in this squad is unreal… so confident in this team and Ange and his philosophy. Bigger better stronger.. The turnaround in one year is just exceptional to be perfectly honest. Hail Hail🍀

Mooy brings different options the guys about 2 weeks away from match fitness really but will be good player for us 🍀

Some interesting take aways from that match.
1.Hart being high up to receive the ball reduces the attacking press of the opposition and makes it easier to play out- but guarantee we balls one up and concede due to it during season.
2. Great one and two touch play to move the ball
3. In defence O’Riley and Jota switch defensive positions( did this with Rogic a little let year to), seems to be done to cover for speed of O’Riley- I just wonder if that detracts a little from both players as they will receive the ball more in areas either deeper/forward from their usual areas.
4. Bring on the league and Europe - gonna be an epic season

You lads crack me up every time! Enough of the preseason Shiite! Let the regular season rip! We have a great coach, great team, great fan channel with handsome celebrities! What are we waiting for? I can feel Celtic is going to kick some serious arse this season! BTW Hamish and company I can barely keep up with the wealth of knowledge here about the team and the game. On a good note, I thought that Jullien and Jenz looked good together, I thought they were more composed than CCV and Welsh, plus Jenz and Jullien actually played some decent passes from defence.

CCV isn't got up too speed yet, compared to last season but he was brilliant for us, so hopefully more of the same.

It wouldn't be suprised if Ange went with CCV and Jenz against Aberdeen as Jenz gives the left side a better balance, but overall the centre half positions look much better with Jenz and Jullien back in the mix, gives us a much added height that we need.

It would be great if we could bring in Fausto Vera to our midfield and a penalty box finisher. As we are still missing something.

Anyway good victory against a team from England, you can see why Norwich were relegated, overall they were very poor.

The boy Cantwell might be worth watching for the future, along with Aaron's the Norwich fullback.

Think we are going to see a genuine contest for places this season . From Mooy wanting to cement his world cup place to Grande Moritz wanting to emulate VVD . Wouldn’t bet against us this season HH 👍

Watched the game here in Wellington, NZ, 2am KO.
Play seemed a bit ponderous at times, though I guess it could be described alternatively as "a patient build-up", which I can understand.
And perhaps I shouldn't be greedy and expect faultless, neat, triangular close-quarters passing atm. It's a work in progress.
