Let me preface this by saying…I can see it is hard to believe this bothered Brandi as she constantly talks about sex and flirts with costars male and female alike. BUT…this has nothing to do with whether it is a joke, whether you seem to go along with it, or anything else. A relationship between a star maker/talent leader/figure head of a network and an employee/talent is inherently coercive. I have seen many a person play along with wildly inappropriate stuff in a workplace, because they are afraid that if they didn’t…the person would ice them out or worse. Brandi’s reaction is irrelevant. Andy Cohen also does not have to be “the boss”. He is the representative of the show…the figure head…his behavior reflects on the network. These reality stars contracts and Andy Cohen’s contract are NOT alike. Even if they are colleagues…colleagues can be fired or sued for behaving like this. If my colleague at work does this and my initial reaction is to joke it away…it doesn’t mean I liked it…and the fact they are not my boss is also neither here nor there. My colleagues can be fired for being inappropriate with their same level colleagues. And they have been. People who flirted with their coworker or said something sexual to their coworker were canned.

I find this podcast bizarre. People have been raped or assaulted and not reported it for a LONG time. Does that mean they actually enjoyed it? They didn’t go straight to the police, so they must have been ok with it. C’mon now, that is faulty logic. Just because some people have unprofessional relationships with their colleagues or bosses, doesn’t mean someone else should be ok with whatever you would be ok with. She can sleep with all the people she wants and talk about it all she wants…that doesn’t mean then anyone can talk to her any way they want to then.

Let’s be real about another thing, too, regardless of Cohen’s position: you can see the desperation on many of these reality stars faces when interacting with Cohen; wanting to see if he likes what they wore, what they said, and they literally squirm sometimes. Whatever his position is…they appear to feel they need to keep him happy and liking them. They kiss his ass constantly. There doesn’t need to be a power dynamic for his call to be actionable, but it certainly feels like there is a power imbalance between Andy and all the ladies.

Andy doesn’t have to be her boss. If he’s higher in hierarchy where she’s employed, it can technically be harassment. I don’t think he did anything, but I see why she’s doing it. They quickly offered Caroline a large sum right after she claimed harassment, Brandi would’ve never been vindicated. They did do her dirty. Not “Andy” but going after someone attached to the show with such a high profile is actually a smart plan

The comparison of Andy Cohen being Mickey Mouse is silly. He’s been an executive producer with Bravo for a very long time and an EP on the housewives shows. I’m not sure what Brandy is doing, other than she is hurt that Brevo and Andy loved and encouraged her antics until Caroline Manzo lost her shit, and now they won’t back her up. They won’t air the UGT season which allegedly clears Brandy’s name.

Love your show. Listen regularly. Admire your running prowess -- and I have a different take on this subject:
* I believe Andy Cohen is the Executive Producer of the Housewives shows. As such, he wields enormous influence over these shows and has the ear of high-level, C-suite Bravo executives..
* I know Andy Cohen is the host of Watch What Happens Live. In that role he has enormous clout on Bravo and has regularly access to a platform on which he can speak fairly freely about the casts of Bravo shows. As a result he has the means and the opportunity to influence public opinion about a Housewife of anyone else.
* I understand how puzzling a woman's behavior can be when she's in an environment where men with power make comments of a sexual nature. In my experience -- both personally and in observation -- many women will appear to be compliant to and complicit with sexually-charged comments and behavior -- all the while hating every moment of it. To understand the WHYs of this, I look toward the way women are raised to be agreeable and smiley -- in the face of nearly intolerable behavior.
* That Brandy is a randy character who seems comfortable with her body and sexuality SIMPLY does not exempt others from treating her with respect. To say differently is in line with saying she deserved it -- or cannot protest against it -- because she dressed provocatively.
* If any other executive in the country were found on tape making such vulgar statements to a current or former colleague, she or he would be terminated, disgraced and pulled off the air.
* I like Andy. I think he's good at his job. I don't want to see him fired. But I think if he's honest with himself, he would admit (if only to himself) that he got very sloppy over the years and falsely believed he could behave like a drunken frat boy when the true expectation for all men his age -- and high-level executives, in particular -- is to keep their sexual lives private and FAR from their professional lives.
