There are many health benefits to walking. Watch this short video as National Jewish Health Cardiologist, Andrew Freeman, MD, explains.

Transcript

So the benefits of walking are many, and I would argue that walking is probably nature’s most potent medicine.

And there’s a lot of different disease states it can prevent, and even potentially cure.

So I would argue that walking, from a cardiovascular perspective, can reduce the incidence of heart attack and stroke, lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol, but it also has effects to reduce cancer, improve memory and cognition.

It also can improve bone density.

There’s pretty much no disease out there that doesn’t respond.

So get 30 minutes a day and take nature’s best medicine.
