How to install NEW ASPHALT driveway paved over our gravel road *NO EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT NEEDED [DIY]

We have graded our driveway, laid gravel and road bond but that still was not enough to withstand our sloped mountain driveway. So we decided to pour asphalt and skip the crazy expenses by doing it ourselves. We were quoted over 20k to have an asphalt company come in and pave our driveway... WE DID IT OURSELVES. by only using a shovel, rake and tamper tool we got what we needed and we think it turned out great. We ended up using our old run down mini ex to speed up the process but it is not necessary. Our first load we paved we hand shovel the asphalt off of our pick up truck, them raked it with a metal rake to even it out and packed it with a temper tool from Lowe's its no the prettiest paved road but we did it on a budget and spent less than 1 thousand dollars on a job we were quoted 5 figures on. Hey guys, having recently done some driveway and parking lot repairs I think you can rent a roller/vibrator that will flatten the driveway very nicely. In fact we are also building a small tiny house community and I may be attempting my own driveway install as well.

That's amazing. Our biggest hurdle so far has been the road. We don't have a fully established one so we needed an engineer to create a road plan and that goes before the planning commission next week. We have to hire it out because we're not in a position to do it ourselves but if we were, I'd do it. It seems really doable, even if it's hard work. I'm bracing myself for the cost. 😩
