Ostfriesland: Message to Great Britain #Brexit #Europe

Показать описание
Dear Great Britain,
come rain or shine - our country will always be here for you.
We have so much in common - let's keep our friendship.
Hey Great Britain,
Ostfriesland has a message for you,
from our people, our villagers and our islanders.
We have a soft spot for you, and want you to know
that our country will always be here for you,
through thick and thin.
Because what do you know? Our cultural heritage has certain similarities to offer.
Teatime in Ostfriesland
is deeply rooted
in our cultural heritage, just as five o’clock teatime is in Britain.
And just as life in the UK revolves around the next cuppa,
life in Ostfriesland is also punctuated by cups of tea.
You are sure to enjoy our tea and Kookjes
just as much as you enjoy your tea and scones.
On good weather days,
our seven channel islands
offer a clear view
all the way to those glorious white cliffs you know so well.
And just like yours, our historic fishing villages
by the sea,
have a long tradition as seaside resorts.
Our rural landscapes,
lush green parks,
and delightful gardens ,
especially those surrounding our castles
and palaces,
are as unique in their own way as the likes of Windsor –
so come and feel at home - in Ostfriesland’s green and pleasant land.
Our lowland cows
may remind you of home;
our sheep
are just like yours.
And we too have our moor ponies, our brewery horses,
and our racing -
not to mention the odd feather in our cap to rival those
of good old Ascot.
We serve tasty local food
and traditional beer,
not in pint-sized glasses like yours -
but nevertheless with plenty of ‘hoppy flavour’ and a ‘crisp bitterness’.
We Ostfriesians are famed for being somewhat introverted and taciturn -
but then even Shakespeare is known to have said that:
‘Men of few words are the best men.’
So let’s pool our similarities.
Great Britain, we have so much in common.
Come rain or shine, let’s start a new love affair.
Ostfriesland welcomes you with open arms.
