March of the Witch Hunters Animatic

EDIT: The semester is finally winding down for me, so I have another Wicked animatic coming That I'll hopefully post before the month is out. After a year of no animatics, I finally present to you... this.... The style changes a little over halfway through because I switched brushes. I also stopped for a few months and picked up again there. The first half, I drew over two months ago. The second half I did today.

Song is “March of the Witch Hunters” from “Wicked.” Characters are obviously from the Wizard of Oz.

A note on the animatic itself: the Scarecrow is my favorite character, and you might notice that I gave him more screen time than others, including the Tin Man, who sings the majority of the song. I started this Animatic before I read the book “Wicked.” I finished it after. I enjoy how the musical portrays the original quad much more than the book; the book takes several liberties that logically do not work. That being said, my inspiration for this came from a combination of the books and the musical, so there’s a lot of story mashing happening here.

I am so glad that Dorothy was included in this animatic. It’s so sad how, in the wicked universe, she was isekai’d into another world and then was used as a pawn by almost everyone around her. Even Fiyero, her first friend in Oz, used her to fake Elphada’s death.

I love it. Dorothy was the only thing I missed in the musical. (I know she was there, but I wanted to see some scenes with her and Glinda or, idk, with wizard or scarecrow / Fiyero?

The layers that are added to this song by including the four (Dorothy, Lion, Fiyercrow, Tin Boq) being present together like this are INSANE

Dorothy's prescence itself adds a whole layer of tragedy and wrong doing to the situation, a child who is not only witnessing the call for the murdering of the witch, but is the one being expected to do it, and not being given another choice as its the only way she'll be sent home

Lion is also very unwilling, he's just being dragged along for the ride, he also probably doesn't know anything more than Dorothy does, and his reluctance is likely just being chalked up to his fear, and with the pressure to overcome his fear, comes the pressure to go through with killing the witch

Dorothy's innocence and her being oblivous to the full context of what's happening around her, Fiyer-crow's reluctance and worry upon seeing everything to do with the witch hunt for Elphaba, Tin Boq's absolute thirst for revenge, being the only one in the group to be actually willing to kill her, oblivous to the real reason Elphaba turning him to tin was to save his life UGHHH THIS ANIMATIC IS PERFECTION ❤️❤️❤️

This is a good song, that ain’t right, we all that Boq was human back then, he almost died because of Nessarose, but Elphaba save him, she didn’t mean turn him what he is now but it was the only way to save his life. And let’s not forget Lion, Elphaba may not remember him but he was that cub back then, and they say she cub nap him, please, that new teacher was gonna inject him with something, thanks to Elphaba and Fiyero, they move him somewhere safe and we don’t know what if her powers made stand and walk on two legs. But glad that he’s 👍, Fiyero didn’t like this witch hunting, but still love her, he almost pick up the sword 🗡 he saw on the wall with the weapons, but, it’s a good thing Dorothy was there placing her hand on his arm, and he lower it. Glinda was right, this has gone too far.

Man, it’s gonna be extremely emotional seeing this in part, the rest of the gang are reluctant about this while Buoq is just seeing so much, he doesn’t even realize or care about reason . She was friend and she was trying to save him .
