NBA eyes expansion after finalizing media deal; Seattle may see Sonics return

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver signaled on Thursday night that the NBA will turn to expansion as part of a process after reaching a media rights deal.

Seattle fans and elected officials have been cautiously watching every word from the commissioner since the Sonics left in 2008.

Silver has previously mentioned Seattle and Vegas as being near the top of the list of viable cities for expansion, especially since the opening of Climate Pledge Arena in 2021.

I have lived in Oregon for 23 years. But, I lived west of Seattle, in Belfair and Tahuya, for 14 1/2 years previously. I am loyal to all the Seattle teams: the Huskies; Seahawks; Sonics; Kraken; Sounders; and Mariners! Whenever I see any customers at work wearing non-Washington state team apparel, I give them a hard time and tell them, "we need to charge you 5% extra for wearing the wrong team apparel. I hope the Sonics come back soon!!!!
