Kia ora (greetings) Omar, I'm writing all the way from New Zealand. I watched Young Royals with my son Mark. He fell in love with a boy Jason who was from a rich family and we are poor.

They were stigmatized for being gay by our community and it was a hard time for them. As a father you want your son to grow up and be a strong man, have a family and children. When my Marky boy was 3 or 4 we knew he wasn't the typical boy but we gave him the love he needed and nurtured who he was.

He and Jason were so happy together, we allowed them to be who they were in our home but when they went to Jason's home my son would come home upset because they were mistreated. Sadly, Jason took his life which devasted my son, we had to watch over him for many months after Jason's death.

It's been 11 years since he passed and we miss him dearly. Marky has never been the same, although he has moved on and has a partner, he has never been the same.

We cried our eye's out watching Young Royals and Marky said 'dad, I miss Jason. I wish the world wasn't so cruel, maybe he'd still be here today'.
