Hanan's Story

For more than four years the Syrian crisis has wrought destruction and despair on Syrian citizens. Over 13 million Syrians need humanitarian assistance today. Four million Syrians have fled their country. Over 400,000 Syrians are besieged by warring parties, denied access to any aid whatsoever. Syrians have watched while their children, neighbours, friends and colleagues have been bombed inside their houses. Warring parties flagrantly violate international humanitarian law with almost complete impunity. Yet external Governments have as yet not been able to come together to find any lasting solutions to the Syria crisis.

In Lebanon, local organizations and NGOs are struggling to keep up with the growing needs. There are more than 1.8 million Syrian refugees in a country of just over 4 and a half million people. One of them is Hanan. This is her story.
