I just discovered the other day that the author of this hymn, Fanny Crosby played the GUITAR and used it while writing the HUNDREDS of hymns we still sing.
It’s weird- because we think of the hymns she wrote as “traditional hymns” and think they are meant to be played only with piano or organ but Fanny Crosby herself, who was blinded as an infant, played the GUITAR and that probably has a lot to do with why your arrangement sounds so great.
