You'd be shocked at how much art is housed in the Louvre; everyone is aware of this. If you took 30 seconds to view each piece, it would take you almost 200 days to visit all 35,000 pieces on display in the museum. That's simply not even half of the museum's collection, which totals over 550,000 items, the most of which are kept locked away in storage. And speaking of occupying space, if you were to spread out the Louvre's numerous levels room by room, the museum would be eight miles long.
