Ukraine Awaits Cluster Munitions to Counter Russia

Ukraine is hoping cluster munitions will help them break through Russia's front lines. The highly-lethal weapons will be included in a Biden Administration military aid package to Ukraine unveiled Friday. Global human rights advocates and many military experts say Russia has been deploying cluster bombs against Ukraine throughout the war.

The problem already exists, because, while we're wringing our hands and debating the morality of cluster munitions, Russia has already fired thousands of rounds of these weapons and the Russian version has a much higher failure rate than that of the western versions. Ukraine takes responsibility for demining its own lands and safeguarding its population, as best it can, once the war is over!

Maybe Amnesty International should try outlawing Russia instead of worrying about cluster bombs which are indeed terrible weapons but just one of many that Russia has been using indiscriminately since the beginning of Russa's indiscriminate attempt to rebuild the Soviet Union at any cost no matter how violent or horrific.

In March 2022, Psaki stated that if the Russians use cluster munitions, then this should definitely be considered a war crime. It is prohibited by Convention on Clister Munitions, 2008.
