Stipe was willing to take the Francis fight, Jon wasn't, show Stipe the respect he deserves.

I'm a fan of Stipe win or lose. Stipe is going to whoop Jones ass. It's going to happen.

Stipe has the crisp fundamentals of boxing and wrestling, not to mention power.

There's no way jones is gonna do to stipe what he did to gane, and he's not gonna knock him out either. The only way he wins is through a close decision. But stipe CAN knock jones out, power is known to be the last thing to go, and jones hasn't really felt HW power.

I don't understand how people could have so quickly forgotten how good Stipe was and is.

Everyone thinks DC is so great. Stipe beat him two of three times, both decisive victories. He's one of the few 2 time heavyweight champions, and has the record for hw title defenses.

He beat Francis. He finished JDS, Werdum, Overeem, Arlovski. Those four are all legends that most fans have forgotten about, and forgotten how good they were.

Yeah he's 42 and hadn't fought in 3 years. He's still Stipe. Randy and Hendo were fighting at age 46 and were still competitive.

Stipe isn't in his prime anymore but he's not nearly removed as far from it as people think.

Anyone that thinks this fight is a joke because of Stipe really doesn't know mma

Jones doesn't have KO power, his wrestling is his greatest weapon so Stipe doesn't have to worry and give a shit, if Stipe touch Jones it wouldn't be like Reyes or Gustafson at LHW, both have to take this fight seriously, and I believe they will.

Stipe has this. People forget how good he is.

For some reason, I wouldn't shocked if Jones smokes Stipe in the first round, but I also wouldn't be shocked if Stipe knocks Jones out. I think it's gonna be a great fight, and I can't wait to see it!

Listen- Jones might be the GOAT. However, I'm sick of hearing about how great he is on the strength of beating tomato can Cyril Gane. Stipe is probably over the hill now- he's 42. Does anyone seriously think Jones is moving up to HW and beating Velasquez, Dos Santos, or even someone like Werdum in their prime? No fucking way. Jones is the recipient of a very weak HW division with Francis leaving the organization and the prior generation of HW phenoms aging out. I have no idea what kind of shape or mindset Stipe will present in 2 weeks. However, if Stipe shows up Ala Mark Coleman after a 4 year lay off and gets finished in round 1, I don't want to hear how great Jones is. Until and unless he beats Aspinal, this entire HW project will be nothing but clever marketing by the UFC.

6:38 except Jon jones is calling himself the best in the world without fighting the CURRENT best fighters like Tom aspinal

Duh. That’s why Jones picked Stipe and that’s why Dana let it happen.

Jon Jones has been fighting from the outside by points and decision in most of his matches for years. He is especially cautious with opponents his own height and similar reach. He does not do much the 1st round aside from measuring and determining the opponent's game plan. I do not see Jon being aggressive for the sake of being aggressive against a true HW that is taller, bigger, and vastly more experienced in the HW division. Sure, at that size, almost anyone can get a knock out, but Jon's not been knocking people out. Conversely, Stipe has taken the heaviest hitters, the real strikers hits his entire career, and still defeated them all.
Jon Jones at this weight...untested (Ciryl Gane clearly took a dive and left for Hollywood). Jones was supposed to entice Ngannou to return to a contract for a big 'Deontay Wylder sized money-fight'. IF Jones could get him to come back. This is why you saw Jones stalking Francis in public 2 or 3 times trying to get him interested in a return for the belt he left behind. When the time comes, we'll also want to look for a set of arthroscopic surgery scars on Jones in the area he said he hurt his pectoral muscle. A set of 3 dots. Why? Because I believe he took the extra time to do a cycle of steroids. In my opinion, there was no injury. A soft tissue injury will not show on an X-ray, only an MRI or by a visual and physical examination so you can only go by his word that it was a genuine injury that needed 9 months. Meanwhile, he grew in muscle mass? One thing is true about Jon Jones, and it is the only thing...he lies. He and Dana White together especially. They bring out more bullshit from one another when in close proximity. Rarely do you ever see 2 men so close with each other in secretive ways without there being some sort of orgasm. The second thing we know about Jon Jones is that he does not fight fight where he does not have several advantages. Just one advantage won't do. He has to have an unfair lead on age, weight, height, and reach, before he agrees to schedule a match and start his cycle of PED's. So we can be assured, that since he is not taller and stronger than Stipe, that Jones will be roided-up like he was on sale.

Its insane how the narrative is Stipe has no chance. When actually no one even really believes that. They're only saying that because they want Jon to definitively lose. They want him to fight someone that they feel will absolutely starch him. Jones vs Miocic is the fight to make. And it will be competitive. The hate for Jon is unreal.

If Jones wins this then people need to be quite and just accept Jones is the goat....with that said..Yes him vs Aspinall will be the true deciding factor to demolish the goat debate..

I think Jon will eventually get the job done in this fight but it's crazy to see how many people are writing off the Heavyweight goat in Stipe. Stipe has that KO power and excellent wrestling. Anything can happen...

You are right Chael…. This may be a better fight than many believe between Jones and Stipe.
