Organist: Pieter Leebeek
Organ: Grote- of St.Laurenskerk in Rotterdam

Recorded in 2021.

This totally unknown Prelude and Fugue (in A minor), starting with a pedal solo, may sound as if it was composed by a north german baroque composer. However, the composer is…George Frideric Handel!
Originally composed for the organ!

Händel organ works are severely underrated

George Frederic came just back home from his visit to Master Buxtehude when he composed it...
The harmonies in the fugue make the unspectacular theme really haunting, you can hear the piece again and again, quite puzzling!

A beutiful piece on a beautiful organ too, very nice. Just a little comment: "may sound as if it was composed by a north german baroque composer. However, the composer is…George Frideric Handel!" Handel (Händel) was born in Germany (rather east than north) before moving to England so this is no contradiction.
