Tommy's Theme is one of my favorite songs of all time, so in a sense, I'm disappointed that they reworked. Then, I listened to the song, and I found my new all time favorite. Immediate replacement to the original for me, but never forgotten.

EDIT: Re-listened to the original after this, and I think I have to take it back. Original is better, but this is like, so so close to beating it. Still an absolutely amazing track, and is a candidate for best track of the year.
