How Eminem Saved Ed Sheeran’s Life

Eminem saved Ed Sheeran’s life before they even met and it’s a crazy story. As a child, Ed Sheeran had a stutter and could barely speak. This stutter ruined Ed's childhood, he was often made fun of by his classmates growing up and his parents put him in speech therapy hoping it would fix his stutter, but he wasn’t making any progress. But what happened next is crazy, Ed’s uncle gifted him Eminem’s album The Marshall Mathers LP. Ed would listen to it over and over again until he memorized all the song’s lyrics. By rapping each song back to back, the lyrics became second nature. Ed said because Eminem raps very fast and with a lot of melody he was able to help Ed cure his stutter. But things got crazier after Ed Sheeran's career took off, he and Eminem became good friends and created a few songs together, and Ed even got a career-defining call from the one and only Eminem when he was older. Eminem asked Ed to perform “Stan” off The Marshall Mathers LP with him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ed said he didn’t even have to rehearse because he had memorized the song as a kid and it was a dream come true.

This made me cry because I grew up with a really bad stutter and went to speech for it. I didn’t get over it until I learned and listened to Eminem every morning with my dad and practiced rapping the lyrics to myself. It saved me even more ridicule that I already got for sucking my thumb til I was 12. His music also gave me confidence in some of the hardest times of my life, when I had nobody. A lot of people hate on him but I wouldn’t be here without his music
