Impressions of Oia Santorini 2020 - a dead city - Corona holidays

Some impressions of Oia Santorini on July 6th 2020 ... just as Greece opened it's borders for tourists on July 1st we flew in to Santorini, one of our favorite destinations in the last years...but we never saw it like this. Corona keeps away the tourists from the cruise ships and not many people came by plane. Only 3 planes landed on July 1st, the year before it were 60... let's hope for the greek it gets better soon... but as a tourist it is very relaxing. But see for yourself.

What a lovely video. So glad to hear that things are relaxed and peaceful. We are flying out on the 29th of July. Really need to to feel that sense of freedom, I'm longing to go swimming. Have a fantastic time

Im really glad that I visited Europe last year, my brother in law was in Santorini... The way its going, no international flights from Australia at least 3 years... oh well... Greetings from Australia

Im going in august. I hope that the tourism will pickup a little bit for the island, but for myself i hope it stays peacefull.

The island had over tourism to the point of near collapse. Both infrastructure and ecological. It was madness. All for the sake of cruise ships and business to profit. This is a much needed rest for the island to recover and recalibrate. Until this virus is sorted guest should be minimal. There is something to be said about a Greek island that is tranquil, quite and full of quality experiences. Hoards of people running around like a bunch of lemmings isn't what I call an experience to remember. Hopefully this Greek government will put a quota on the number of visitors that can safely come to visit after corona. It was out of control for way too long. It wasn't fun for anyone and mostly it isn't fair to the island.
