I've watched the whole movie .... because I've watched the trailer.

THAT WAS AN AWESOME BUT BRUTAL MOVIE, the redemption at the end hardly made up for the tragedy that affects everyone in the film. I found beautifully shot, the brutal life of the steppes and the romanticized dying way of the Mongols that he meets was moving. The Wilf attack on the horses more than tops the Buffalo Hunt in Dances With Wolves, Sorry  Costner, your epic motive was too simple and clear cut. Here in this Chinese film there are no heroes or villains clearly cut. the forces at play  both of nature and man over rule everything in the story.

Mao Zedong never sent any of his students to Mongolia. Mongolia is totally separate country with borders and customs. Mongolians dont speak Chinese. The movie introduction must say inner Mongolia, which used to be part of Mongolia, and later became northern part of China.

according to the book, wolves totem which is about wolf of mongolian prairie, those 2 students are sent into Olonbulag, which is place of Mongolian prairie. Those one of them, Cheng, admires Mongolian prairie wolf and decide to domesticate one pup of wolf. However, in this movie have been changed core meaning of book. Why? Those wolves ain't belong to Chinese it is Mongolian wolves i can't believe you can change some of meaning but you don't have to change whole meaning of book WTF?

the description in this trailer have inaccuracy. it's not the CR, it's not GPCR, with emphasized on Proletarian or the masses, the majority of population made of peasants .The guy was teaching Mongol kids Mandarin or Hanyu....not "Chinese" for Mongol is also a Chinese language .

This movie looks incredibly corny. But also awesome.

If it's not on the level of Quest for Fire and The Name of the Rose, I'll be very disappointed. You better bring it, Annaud... or else.
