I recommend for your last two pages to draw something that's out of your comfort zone. Something that you may have strong opposition towards or something that makes you feel uneasy. A true artistic expression of breaking through a literal obstruction within ones mind.

Suggestion: draw a memory of your childhood. Can be anything.

Honestly this makes me feel a lot better. I’ve always drawn in different styles and sometimes that made me feel kinda lost. Thinking about it like what best suits the design of this story makes me feel happy and brings me back to what I loved doing most in college 😊

I discovered what an art style was when I was 15 so I was trying to find it for 2 years and right after I gave up and stopped trying it just jumped into my face!
so don’t look for ur art style because it’s the one who’s going to find want it or not..

I have so many artstyles and I'm slowly trying to embrace it

BRO i needed to hear this so badly.... i've been trying to force myself to have one all-encompassing art style for YEARS but the fact that i have so much stylistic variety up my sleeve is a strength that i don't appreciate enough and i should be harnessing this power for evil

Michelle, have you ever been in that mood when you just can't draw, but you sit somewhere and think of drawing constantly? Like u just sit in your bed and think "damn i would draw now soo many things in my sketchbook cuz its fun and i wanna become a professional" but you can't just get up/make yourself to do it? If so, how did u deal with? Like I know why i should draw, i know where i want to be, i know what i need to do BUT STILL something keeps me back. Also I listened to a Brittany Myers interview and she said that she drew constantly all the time and I feel so down because I cant make myself to draw like she did or to draw like you or other artists did..

i'd like to see your revisit some of your characters from really old projects (leaves of the season, the masked girl, synesthesia, etc) and talk about what you learned from working on them/what you'd do differently now!

Honestly, I feel the most poignant send-off for this sketchbook/series would be a look ahead at some of your 5-10 year goals are! So much of this journey you've taken us on has been self reflective of your past or endeavoring to be more present and reflective on the now. It'd be a nice capstone to see what your new dreams are and how you hope your future chapters might play out! 🤗

You are totally right about the art style. Practicing stuff you don't feel comfortable with totally help. Because once you manage to undestand it, you can then use shortcuts. Your shortcuts (= stylisation of that thing → artstyle).

As for last page idea, It could be a positive message. You know with covid and stuff, people feel down but now that it gets better a positive page for the future could be interesting. Or perhaps a memory of your childhood, I think I saw someone that gave this idea in comments.

Aaah, I was just binging some of your other videos! And maybe you could draw some exotic sea creatures on the last few pages?

OMG Michelle it’s like you read my mind with this vid. It’s scary! 😂
Maybe for your last pages, drawing POC characters?? or something summer related like the beach or underwater?

I absolutely love drawing glitches and blood in my style. I feel like it's a style that's really my own.

Your art style is very unique, too!

I honestly struggled with my art style for such a long time. And I still struggle, but at least now it's focused on fine-tuning it and implementing shape-language, rather than actually hunting for it.
How I found it? No kidding, I got so sick of draw like poo after coming out of a long, horrid art block... So sick I was questioning giving up on drawing for a bit... But then, while reading a fantastic book series, my mind's eye saw the characters properly. And I mean like, I imagine characters, yeah, but this was different. I call it a blessing from my own psyche, because it was vivid detailing, especially in the face, exactly how I always want to draw. My mind miraculously gave me the solution for figuring out my own style! It's weird...!
I'm not saying that your mind will suddenly do that. I know it happened to me because of huge frustrations, because I swear, I was about to give up and just write instead.
But, I also know that I'm a person who needs multiple styles, because I wanna do a few different things. That's my upmost tip: multiple styles. If only just for experiments at first to see what you'd like, but if you're like me, and you wanna do serious stuff, and comedic stuff, it's best to have at least two styles for those exact purposes.

The fact that people are so honed into art styles than getting better with their works still baffles me to this day. Never mind the fact of based on what media and medium you're doing (animation, comics, watercolor, etc) each will have their own set of styles.
When I worked on my art show, I had to produce 20 pictures for 20 canvases, so I just did a style that made me produce work faster. When I'm doing watercolor, I take more time and the style is different there.
It's just best to get better with the basics first, see what makes you faster or slower, and go on from there.

Also (and this is me getting slightly nihilistic after doing a few style bends), many art styles can be constructed with the same bones. Only the aesthetics and proportions are different. Ideally, if you have good reference and you know how to effectively parse that reference, you can do anything.

I think part of the pressure is definitely working out how to brand yourself online to gain an audience as it helps to have some sort of aesthetic.

There's so many styles I can do but I can't figure out what I prefer so it's constantly switching, and in my experience it isn't the best way when most people crave consistency from content creators they subscribe to.

Hmm maybe the last page can be a compilation of all the drawing styles you have done of your persona in the past and current! :D
