My Dream First Drive in the FERRARI MONZA SP2!

My dream of a perfect car day out would be something like driving a brand new Ferrari Monza SP2, chasing a LaFerrari Aperta, with a group of friends, on a beautiful day in the Italian Dolomites... Thanks to my friend, PowerslideLover that dream has become reality! Ferrari have created a fabulous masterpiece with this car, what a phenomenal experience.

Inspired by legendary Ferraris like the 750 Monza and 250 Testarossa, the first of the Icona series range of models to arrive is the new Monza. Available as either single-seat SP1 or two-seat SP2 configuration, only 499 will be built in total of the long-bonnet 2 seats roadster. Under the bonnet sits an 810hp variant of the 6.5l naturally aspirated V12 found in the 812superfast, with the power all going to the rear wheels through a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. For the driver, it's all about the elements, with only a 'Virtual Windshield' and a total feeling of being open to the world!

Where better then than to take the Monza SP2 for a first drive than onto the mountain passes of the Dolomites, and in particularly to Passo Giau, giving chase to PowerslideLover in his LaFerrari Aperta. Joined also by the 812 GTS and Pista Spider, it's really and truly Ferrari dreamland on perfect roads, with beautiful early morning sunshine, and one of the most perfect cars to experience.

Removing the upper section of the car takes 150kg out of the weight of 812 but it retains all of the controls and dynamic technologies for the perfect drive. The balance and feel could not be better, with a direct connection to everything that's going on and an amazingly playful character as experienced behind some smoking tyres of PowerslideLover's LaFerrari Aperta ahead! There's no question that the Monza is not a suitable every day car, but for an ultimate automotive experience it is up there with the very, very best.
