Vita and PSP are criminally underrated in this list.

I adore the DS. It's my favorite system (handheld or home console) ever. It was the system that shaped my taste in games and I'd honestly be happy if Nintendo never released another handheld after it.

I imagine this list is heavily swayed by the channels age demo. Like the Ngage passing the Game Gear is particularly surprising.

With a Steam Deck with EmuDeck and a jailbroken PSP you have pretty much all retro consoles in a portable form factor. Been playing through Pokémon and Fire Emblem on my PSP

GBA SP was my childhood, yeah. That and the DS felt like a golden age of games

Ive recently been a huge fan of the vita. While on the surface its game library might seem mid, there are some true hidden gems on the platform that really pushed handheld gaming for a time. While ultimately the switch deserves the credit for becoming the true home console to go, the Vita got remarkably close. It was a shame about the memory card price tho.

Tough to say which handheld is the GOAT.

I've always been partial to 3ds.

It gave you plenty of great games and access to the ds library.

It's a shame Nintendo didn't give people an official way to play more gba games on it officially.

Obviously this is much more a list of what people own.

The handheld I enjoyed the most and spent the most time on was the Ps Vita.

I was so sure the Switch would be the console on S rank, I really liked this list, I haven't been able to get a Switch yet but I just love the GBA and it's incredibly varied library.

Okay I missed this poll but holy crap, the PS Vita got done dirty on this list (kinda like how it got done dirty IRL. Big RIP). In spite of its library hiccups, you COULD buy a lot of PSP games for it digitally and that's certainly a plus. That said, overall, I really just have this to say:

I feel bad for the Game Gear being in D tier but I get why. The VIta definitely deserved to be in B tier at least because of how powerful it was, the combination of its own library and part of the PSP library, and remote play. The 3DS I feel deserved A tier for it's capabilities, huge library of its own games and virtual console, and backwards compatibility with the DS. That said, while I certainly like the DS, 3DS, and Vita more, I 100% get why the GBA is "the King" of the handhelds and I'm not offended by that whatsoever.

I'm confused by this poll. How did we get over 160% total votes?

I knew it was going to happen, but I'm still disappointed that the 3ds didn't rank any higher. I'd have put it in A tier at least since it is my personal favorite. I will say I did not see the GBA taking S tier. I thought the DS would take that place

I think the PSP and Steam Deck should be higher here, the Deck had almost any game you can wish for on the go, and the PSP can do soo much more after installing Homebrews etc..

I had the original GBA, but I won the SP from Yoplait Go-Gurt. That was such an improvement with the backlight screen. I went back and played through all my Game Boy games once I could really see them. The 3DS, though, is the system I have the most games for. It's the one I would put in my pocket when I went to the mall, movie theater, or Zelda Symphony to get StreetPasses. I would put the 3DS one step above the GBA.

Interesting! But I guess everybody has a different definition of what it means to be the best handheld. A lot of people believe that the handheld with the most sentimental nostalgic feelings for them is "the best" and not what is objectively the best package of price, value and libary from a todays perspective.

1:21 That's not the only part of its design people make fun of, now that we know _why_ it's shaped exactly the way it is...

I did hesitate between the GBA and the DS in the poll, glad to see them both so high. Also, I can't believe you put DBZ's Legendary Super Warriors's 'Briefing' theme as the background music, it's one of my favorites ever!!

4:39 Well as contemporary as you could get with one thumbpad in a time when the industry standard had been two for a while. I mean it was released in the same console generation as PS2, GameCube and Xbox with its infamous "Duke" controller (ironically the extra two buttons on the Duke was likely the basis for the extra pair of shoulder buttons in the generation that followed as the thing also had introduced trigger buttons to the console controller scene. That means the extra two buttons were the equivalent of LB and RB).

I always look at my Switch and go "Oh yeah, I rarely play that thing. How do people like it so much? I havent even liked many of Nintendos first party offerings lately. I even HATED ToTK.... (the first time I really disliked any Zelda game)" Then I take a look at my over 100 Switch games, comprising of some series I never even dreamed of coming to the west, ports of absolute childhood classics, some games where the Original would have been out of my price range for a very long time and a hand full of new bangers and I go "Ah... yeah. Thats why."

The Switch is like... a Gamings "BEST OF" Album. Sure, it doesnt have that much new stuff, but it has the most bangers from the past.
