Great looking book Anthony! Doom and Goblin set the benchmarks.

You could get a VF copy of this comic for $900 in 1989, which is what I paid. I sent it off back in 2005, I believe, and it did indeed get an 8.0. BUT, the regional differences in pricing were enormous. That was the price in mostly-rural Tennessee, whereas in NYC, Chicago, LA, or even Atlanta, the prices were as much as 50%-100% higher. That's something we don't see today with the internet connecting everyone to the rest of the world. Back then there were opportunities for arbitrage, and my friends and I would often pool our money and buy bigger keys here and take them to conventions in big cities, rent a small table, and sell them. We could easily make $40k-$60k, which would allow us to then buy original art that wasn't available where we lived.

Fantastic four 5 and X-Men 1 Are on my wish list for 2021. I usually try to get one or two really nice books a year now as I’m older in my collecting. The other three are ASM 14, brave and bold 28, and showcase 22. Clearly three of these books might be only a single purchase for the year. Hard to believe brave and bold 28 an ASM 14 can be considered Low hanging fruit on that list!. Great video. Thanks

Doom is a favorite of mine. I was lucky enough to pick up a 2.5 FF #5 in 2019 before the MCU rumors started prices rising. Don’t get me wrong Anthony I still paid a lot, but it was nice watching my investment go up quickly. I’m normally not into the very low grades but considering the price and my budget, I’m happy with my purchase. I own the first doc doom. I still like saying that!

Yes, you made the right decision in obtaining ASM 5 instead of 2. I also do agree that marvel produced a ton of Bronze Age (as well as Silver Age) comics. Those comics, however, were not taken care of the way they are today so a 9.8 of the average is more rare to find whereas a 5.0 is in abundance from that time period which would explain the dramatic high prices for over 9.0. Enjoyed your content.

When are you going to put some input on the comic Tom show? You're clearly the superior intellect on the subject. The one I turn to get a level headed review on collecting😄

Truly a great book. I remember many conversations with you about affording/rationalizing my purchase of my copy. Haven't regretted my decision to get it once. A 0.5 CGC graded sold December 9, 2020 for $2, 200. Also, Marvel villains are just more fun than DC ones! Great spotlight Anthony.

Thats an enjoyable video and a great looking 2.0 Anthony, I think the reason why the mid to lower grades on these major keys are increasing in value is that the high grade ones have gone out of the reach of most buyers so the competition has heated up on the lower grades as people attempt to get a copy of a particular book . looking forward to more spotlights from you, take care my friend.
