This is our Simple Rube Goldberg Machine - Lego Iron Man scores a soccer goal - 7th grade science project. The project demonstrates 4 different simple machines (1. inclined plane, 2. pulley, 3. wheel and axle, 4. lever) and uses a peg board and other parts purchased from Home Depot. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching! Parts list below:
Here are the materials we used (you can buy them at Home Depot or Lowes):
♦ peg board with 1/4 inch holes
♦ wooden dowels 1/4 inch diameter
(cut them into 1.5 inch long pieces, forcefully twist them into the holes)
♦ wood strips 1.5 inch wide
(cut them to whatever lengths you need)
♦ 2 eyehole screws 1/4 inch diameter
♦ PVC pipe elbows 1 inch diameter
(tip: glue them close together or the marble will get stuck, we had that problem)
♦ glue (gorilla, or epoxy)
(tip: we used a hot glue gun and it did not work well, the PVC elbows kept falling off)
♦ string
♦ note: staple gun is helpful, we used 2 staples on bottom of the levers to sit them on the dowels.
♦ [not at Home Depot] matchbox car, large marble, paper clips, empty paper towel tube (to make the marble pulley buckets], a couple small marbles
