Oh yeah, Trump's really protecting the environment Clear cutting and opening it to mining. Somebody is making big money off this. It's probably someone who's heavily in debt and really needs a quick buck. Anyone come to mind?

Hopefully, with the economy tanking, the economic incentive to destroy the forrest will diminish.

Can we get an update on this? What has happened? Trump is gone. Are protections restored? How much of the Tongass was destroyed?

I agree, stored carbon is the number one tool to fighting climate change. How better to store than in lumber created from the timber? Today's modern harvest methods are so efficient and low impact that natural processes can begin breaking slash down and returning units to a natural state within just a few years. Forestry and logging are some of our biggest tools to fighting climate change. We need to capture, store, and regenerate ecosystems fast. Logging is one of the ways of doing this and the best way to capture the most amount of carbon in an economically viable option.
