WHO AM I?
I am a Colombian biologist with a PhD in Conservation Biology from Duke University, USA. My mission is the protection of life on Earth. For me, conservation is the Wildly Important. You will find me doing fieldwork, hiking, birdwatching, and filming short videos on nature!
For the past 10 years, my work has taken me across western and eastern North America, the Greater Antilles in the Caribbean, down to Central America in Costa Rica and Panama, and South America through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
To name a few highlights, I have counted pine crops in the forests of Yellowstone, banded birds in Eastern Appalachia, restored tropical riparian dry forests in northern Colombia, and surveyed birds on cloud forests mountain sites. I have also visited iconic forest places such as the Amazonian lowlands, La Selva research station in Costa Rica, and have also done fieldwork from mangroves in coastal sites to high-Andean Polylepis woodlands.

MY CONSERVATION WORK
I am co-founder and Science Director of Fundacion Ecotonos, a non-profit dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity in the tropical Andes and the Key Biodiversity Area (KBA) San Antonio cloud forest near Cali, Colombia.
We manage and protect 53 ha (120 acre) of cloud forest in the largest private preserve of the San Antonio region. This land is home to endangered species such as the Ruiz's robber frog, the San Antonio Robber Frog, as well bird species including the endemic Multicolored Tanager and the Cloud-forest Pygmy-Owl.
