Getting Through Revisions // my edit process from start to finish

Come along with me as I detail my editing process from start to finish. How I go from Scrivener to Kindle to Microsoft Word through my entire step-by-step approach as I revise, refine, and polish my manuscript. When I'm done with this process, the book is fully ready for formatting and publication. I’m always curious about it how authors - especially indie authors - go about their editing process and dig into revisions. What better way to open the conversation than to cover my own steps? I cover everything, from personal revisions to beta readers to professional developmental and copy editors. Long story short: it's a lot of work.

This is a great video! I appreciate how thorough and complete this is. The way you detail the process so clearly is very helpful. I think anyone who watches this will identify with where they are in the process and will be able to see the big picture more clearly. Thank you for sharing your experience so clearly that it creates a roadmap for others to follow. Thank you for sharing your expertise, and thank you for all your work and time on this.

More than a year ago I finished the first draft of my first novel. Since then I've been through so many articles and videos about the best way to edit. I've printed off checklists and instructions, filing them in binders, created folders in Word, and taken tons of notes which are all over the place by now. Over time with all that information swirling around in my head I've become paralzed with fear, always finding something that keeps me from moving ahead, still searching for the perfect formula. Your video just MAKES SENSE. It's doesn't sound too overwhelming, and I feel ready to finally jump back in and get this thing done. Tomorrow morning I start reading, just reading, not editing yet, my draft. Thanks so much.

This is wonderful! Your videos are so helpful. I'm a designer and artist, but writing has always been something I do on the side. I have a lot of writer/editor friends who I toss ideas around with and I've started just now turning my short stories into fully fleshed out adventures. Which may or may not become novels. LOL. I've spoken to so many people about their process because I make a LOT of notes and trying to keep it all cohesive is frustrating. Sharing your own process is giving me hope that I won't get buried under the pile of sticky notes. LOL. All of your videos give me something to put in my toolbox to help me be a more organized writer. Thanks for your time and valuable info.

I’m 16 and a month ago I finished a novel I originally wrote at 11. Even if it never gets published, it meant a lot to me that I was able to write it. The first ten chapters need a lot of work but it’s overwhelming as far as what the first page and first chapter needs to look like. It’s also more character focused and less plot focused so I’m not sure if it needs as much developmental editing as it does line editing 🤷‍♀️. This video was super helpful by the way ☺️
